O golo de Ronaldo logo no inicio do jogo parecia ter decidido a eliminatoria a favor do Real mas o Galatasaray jogou muito bem na segunda parte e os golos de Emmanuel Eboue, Wesley Sneijder e Didier Drogba deram algumas esperanças aos turcos mas o segundo golo do Cristiano Ronaldo colocou um ponto final na eliminatória.
"Estamos felizes com a classificação, missão completa", disse o Cristiano Ronaldo à imprensa no fial do jogo. "Este jogo vai servir como um exemplo para nós no futuro. No futebol você não pode simplesmente dar chances de distância. Foi culpa nossa que o jogo quase ficou fora de controle."
